Default Setting wheel sensor

Doing some research for a friend. She has a C6 (not sure year) She replaced the front tires which Michelin runflats as they were worn but the rears were ok. She is being told she cant reset the wheel sensor's until the rears are replaced as well so that she has the same tires on all four corners. Is this the case? If not any info I could pass along to her? Thanks

Does she have some ABS problems that indicate a wheel speed sensor is loose?

Or are you talking about the tire pressure sensors???

If a wheel speed sensor was knocked loose, it can certainly be hooked back up.

If you're talking about the tire pressure sensors, then probably nothing at all needs to be done.

If they used the original sensors, and IF THEY PUT THEM BACK ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE CAR THEY WERE ORIGINALLY ON, then they're already programmed properly and she doesn't need to do anything.

If they used the original tire pressure sensors and moved the one that was on the Left Front to now be on the RF corner (and vice versa), the sensors will still work but the DIC display will indicate wrong - i.e., when it says "Left Front 23 psi" it would really be talking about the RF.

If they used new tire pressure sensors, then they are completely incorrect that all 4 need to be replaced before they can program the new ones. It's true that when you do a relearn procedure to program a new sensor all 4 must be programmed, but it doesn't matter if you have one, two, three or all four new sensors. For that matter, you can go out and reprogram all 4 of the sensors that are already programmed in at any time you want - I've done that numerous times when making my videos of the procedure.

So......exactly what sensors are you talking about, and what kind of problem is your friend experiencing. ABS messages? A "Service Tire Monitor" message? "Left Front xx psi"?

Standing by for more info!

Thanks Bob...

Tire pressure sensors. Been a few years since I have had a vette and my lingo is rusty

Not sure where the tires were purchased, however based on your input it appears as if she has been provided incorrect information by who ever installed them. I will pass along the above.
