Gear Swap Question
So I pulled my diff apart today to install hardened shafts and it was allot easier than I thought. I remember reading a post awhile back that said a special tool is required to do a gear swap. Is this true? From where I have the diff right now it seems pretty strait forward but I'm not sure. I was originally planning on having RPM do my gears down the road but I just thought I would ask if anyone knows if it is possible to do by yourself since it looks pretty straight forward from what I can see.

Haven't done a 'Vette rear but to properly set a ring and pinion on most differentials is a job best done by an expert with the correct tools and shims. Setting the lash and tooth mesh pattern is a science.

If you do end up doing the gear swap yourself, you should post a "how-to" thread. I don't think there hasn't been one here. The DIYers, like myself will thank you.

there are some special tools associated with any gear swap. the corvette c6 rear diff requires some tools that only work in this diff. pinion depth checker and ring gear backlash tools are a must. not a diy job by a long shot...................
