Default 09 2LT Airbox

My 09 2LT has a huge OPEN oval air cleaner. There is no airbox at all. Did GM change the design this year? I cant see wasting money on anything but maybe a stock K&N replacement filter.

Pictures?
No air box means it's not stock.

K&N doesn't make just a replacement filter, you have to buy the filter/air box.

Default From the dealer

Thats how it came from the dealer. The filter is oval and blue. Can someone take a picture of what it should look like?

sounds like you have a replacement air filter assembly. why not take a pic of what you have and post it? just open a free photobucket account.

they will if they can make money on it. otherwise, if this was a used car, it was probably the prior owner. was it used?

Posting pics: go to c6 gen, top, FAQ section, about half way down, posting pics how to

I have replacement K&N air filters installed in my 2005. These are the rectangular filters that go into the stock airbox assembly. Purcahsed them at Funfest at MidAmerica Motor Works.

That is the way that it comes from the factory. The LS3 motor uses the same type of intake as the Z06. I believe the difference is the filter element. That's why on the aftermarket Intakes you will see them as LS3/Z06.

His is an LS3, no K&N replacement filter for an LS3.

NO.

The picture in post #11 is a stock LS3 filter box. If you have something different it's not stock.

Default Thanks Goose

That is what I have! I was expecting a more enclosed airbox where with this one you can reach up either side and touch the filter. Seems open enough to me that replacing it wouldnt make that much of a difference.
Thanks for your help guys and I WILL learn how to post pictures for my next stupid question. Bear with me, this is my very first Corvette (and loving it!).

It's just an air silencer. I replaced my air intake with the zo6 intake. It's the same thing minus the air silencer. I did this so I could could install a catch can. I can take a picture if you want. Have a good one..

The air silencer really doesn't do anything. Just cut it off and block the hole. Now it is the same as a ZO6 air intake. There is a relacement filter for this unit..but..it is not made by K&N. I believe the name of the product is "Attack Blue Air Filter". I hope this helps you.
