Default Best Mods under 2k

I own a 2005 auto z51. What are the best mods I can do for 2k or under to keep up with the 2011 Mustang Gt & 370z. I already have Corsa Sports, and I was going to buy Vararam snake charmer, but I have read bad reviews concerning sealing problems, dirt, & possible water intake damaging engine. Also, I dont want any emission problems due to NJ inspection rules. I have heard that the auto c6 vettes are the slowest of the c6's. My best 1/4 time was high 12's in 90+ degree weather. Thanks for your input. PS car has 33k mileage.

A Yank stall converter is good for about 5 tenths off your 1/4 mile time, and it will not affect emissions.

headers, intake, stall converter and a tune. Should bring you around $2k, probably a little over. Will make a huge difference though.

If you live near Corvettes of Westchester I think Chucks ATTACK PACAGE should do it.
3.42 rear gears and a tune

He said under $2K. I think these mods are something like $5-$6K easy.

I'd have to vote for the stall converter as above, .5 seconds quicker in a 1/4 drag race and then buy drag tires (separate set of rims).

Cam shaft, deck the heads (raise compression) and tune would be my second vote yet I am unsure how much this will reduce your 1/4 mile times.

And with your smog law headers, intake are pro baby a no go.

There's also a hidden Nitrous Oxide system.

Free mod would be to lower you Vette with the OEM ride height adjusting bolts for better corner handling.

There is a lot of car pre race set up you can do to quicken your 1/4 mile times.

Stall and then headers.

A tune makes it faster too but I'd wait until you have some more mods before paying for a tune.

Why not go to the next Corvette Challenge on June 5th at Etown and talk to JPee (John Pannuzzo) about his car. He has the same 05 Z-51 w/Auto and at the last race ran 12.3's with no internal mods.

i have set of PZero Corsa on another car (and similiar on my LS3) and bet they would work well with 400hp and z51 susp. dry weather track tire. does the 05 have the 6sp auto with sport/competion mode? I believe tires are the #1 mod. 400 hp is a lot in a 3200 lb car. you wont miss a gear in auto... getting the power to the ground is key, (braking/turning) TIRES! maybe a used set of rims too so you can alternate. pzero corsa are expensive but right on your budget. Slicks can be less expensive.

Yea.... lol. Stall would be like 900, good luck doing that yourself, headers, 1000 or so on the cheap side. Anyway, doing those two mods plus a dyno tune would be the biggest difference you could make though and it's what I would do.

with intake/headers/stall and some DR's you'd be in the 11's for sure.

Exactly. the last time I was at the track, the best the 370z could manage was a 14.3. Granted that was the only one there and the guy had just bought it, but I would say you are safe from any of them that are NA.
