Quik question I have a phone jack looking wire coming out from the back of my reaerview mirror which is not connected to anything. It is just tucked in to a small cut out whicj looks to be factory right about the mirror on the roof panel. Is this factory and if so what is it used for?? I bought the car used so i am not sure. If it is not factory any ideas what it does?? It looks just like a phone jack from your home telephone. Thank Guys
If you want to remove it, just cut the cable tie (if it has any) and extract the pins out the backside of the mirror connector. They are just a push-in fit.
Or better yet, get a detector and use either a visor mount or mirror mount.
That's pretty funny that somebody left the Invisicord tapped into the mirror. I guess I had a good name for it since it was so invisible, the prior owner forgot about it.
If you have any questions, please email me (sales AT invisicord.com).
Quik question along the lines of the invisicord. Anyone ever do something similar to this with a windshield mounted gps unit (tomtom)? I figured it will work all I have to do is tap into the 12v power supply and just run the wire behind all the panels and just leave a small piece sticking out like the invisicord by the rear view mirror. Its a 2005 z51 1SB but no navigation. If anyone has ever done anything like this please let me know how it went.
The gps unit runs off 5 volts, well the garman nuvi does and the regulator is in the plug so you cannot cut the wire. I think you can get a lead that can be hardwired.
