ok so i love my c6 but its lacking imho the good: vortech v-3, kooks 1 3/4 lt's, corsa cat back, and tune. dyno'd 569rwhp/492rwtq. a6 tranny by rpm transmissions. the bad: stock gears, no cam yet, and i want to upgrade the suspenion and brakes. i was recently embarassed by 04 cobra making 540/630 and a supra making 530/??? i want my car to scream lol it is very quick but there is room for more
i went 171 mph at the mile run at 21 secs and did better than some really nice z06's but i want better 1/4 mile runs. any help is appreciated
what gears are best for performance but maintains mpg?
blower cam?
brake package?
suspension?

I had to laugh when I read this thread...guys are now complaining because the damn car only makes 569rwhp!....how times have changed. The common gear swap for the A6 cars is to 3.42 from ?2.56? I think. That will help you in the 1/4 mile. You'll will also want stickier tires if you are trying to improve your times. The street tires you have on there now won't hold the power. With a supercharged Corvette are you really worried about MPG or just trying pretending to be environmentally responsible?... You'll notice very little gas mileage difference with the gear swap.

hey man how goes it? and i am not trying to complain at all just know there is room for improvement i have 2.56 gears so 3.42's huh i have heard 3.15's and 3.42's were good. what is all involved? i need to axle shafts also right? IRS is still new to me
what stall do you have? How did they embarass you.. off the line or on a roll?
just some roll races with some good friends i have no stall tho and im not sure about going to one because of the added load/ heat. i know tranny coolers help but i have had bad experience with my old ss camaro and i dont know if im ready to deal with the headache....... i may be wrong and dont know enough about these a6's

Most guys are doing this on an "exchange" basis. You swap out the entire center section for one that has already been set up with the right gears. You return your old pumpkin as a "core". It is a pretty big job. You have to drop the rear cradle but basically its just an unbolt a bunch of stuff and bolt it all back together with the replacement parts. I don't know enough about the different aftermarket hardened axle shafts to comment but the time to swap them is when you are doing the diff. I've only done/helped with a single C5 swap. Not complicated but still a good full day's job on the garage floor. We used DTE for the parts we put in the C5. http://www.dynotech-eng.com/specs/20...6_DTE_DIFF.pdf
Like everything else in this hobby...it ain't cheap! Plan on $2k-$2.5k in parts alone (plus labor) if you go this route.

Thanks! i'm not too worried bout the cost.....i gotta put that iraq money to good use lol i leave in july for baghdad to join some of my brothers in defeating I.E.D.'s. i am hoping to drop the car off at a shop and upgrade as the months go on.

You might want to pulse Karl / "AWARE02" and see if he is up for that differential exercise if you decide to go with DTE...especially if you are going to be deployed for an extended period of time. The last big job we finished for someone else was in January for "TheTrooper73". He has the same A&A blower as you and same year model A6 car. We've done a couple of smaller efforts recently, the last of which was a valve spring swap (broken spring) on a nice 2002 C5 Z06 and I installed an Edelbrock supercharger and cam in my car but other than that things are quiet and we don't have anything on the horizon.
A 2800-3200 (~$800) stall will produce minimal heat gains, but easily offset with a $50 cooler. Depending on how you drive, the MPG will only suffer slightly in the city and none on the highway. You can expect .2-.4 quicker 1/4 mile times and much better response from a low RPM roll, but nothing if the RPM is already high.
A 3.42 gear (~$2000) will have slightly less heat gains. MPG will drop about 10-15% city and 25% highway. 1/4 mile time gains of .1-.2 are normal along with a somewhat better low RPM roll response.
I wouldn't have too much concern about roll races (on closed courses, naturally), because the likelyhood of each participant being at the same point in their powerband at any given MPH is real slim. A competition at a dragstrip has everyone running under the same controlled conditions.
