I need to do a flush for the VIR track event coming up and plan to change my pads also. Please tell me how much break fluid I need to purchase. I have searched and found extensive debates on which type but am not sure of the quantity I need to purchase.
Also, has anyone used the Hawk performance HP Plus pads? If so, can you tell me your opinion.
When I converted to Z06 brakes and SS line I bought 3 small bottles of Motul RBF600. I used them all because I wanted to flush alot of the factory junk out of it. You should also, at least 3-4 bottles. In fact, since you're tracking the car you might want to have Chevy pull all the fluid out of it and compleley refill. Dont know how much the whole system takes.
If you are going to track the car I would suggest completely purging your system and recharging with a suitable racing brake fluid that will help prevent boiling your fluid. Additionally you should have your rotors cut and trued. If you are running drilled rotors, change to slotted rotors as they handle and perform better. A good bed in to mate the new sets and you should be good to go under most conditions with normal tires. Hope this helps. Simply putting in new fluid wihtout a complete purge and flush is a waste of time and money IMHO

Quantity: 3 500mL bottles usually do the trick. Just bleed through as the flush will happen during the process.
Type: I use AP Racing Formula 5.1 for street and light track use. For serious tracking, I move up to AP600.
Pads: Hawk HPS work great for autocross and slower to medium speed tracks. If you are a fast driver that goes deep into the braking zone at higher speed tracks (like VIR), then it would be necessary to move into a dedicated track pad.
