I just purchased an 2006 C6. I love it but its too quiet! Im on a strict budget, so I was wondering if I removed the resonator, and hallowed out the mufflers (left cat alone), would I have improved sound (louder)?

How much of a budget? I would look for the NPP mufflers used and install them. I can tell you how to wire up a switch for less than 20 bucks in parts, once you have the mufflers on the car. You can do the NPP muffler mod to them first, a popular mod that is well documented on the forum.

Search and check out the thread on "the stock muffler mod" , you can get a pretty good sound practically "free" .
While searching I noticed you can pull a fuse to open the flaps in the mufflers? Does anyone know where this fuse is, or atleast the name and I can look in the manual myself?

I just had an exhaust shop remove my stock muffler and weld in SS piping to replace it . . .lets call it the poor mans SLP LM1 =P . Sounds great in my book. Oh and $80 is a lot better than $700+

I mod the stock muffers and love the sound. Save a ton of $$ too. Take a look at this link. Good luck. They have some sound bites.

If you decide on NPPs I have a set off of a brand new GS:
The fuse for the system is the lower right red fuse in the passenger foot well. It's labeled something like exhs (terrible memory so don't believe a word I say).

Look in the for sale section or just get the mufflers replaced at a muffler shop. Real cheap. Your stock mufflers are big and chambered and cause some back pressure which is a loss in some power. Get a straight thru muffler which will still keep the volume down some and just have a shop cut and weld the new ones on.
