Default Comp Cams Trunnion upgrade for stock rockers $199 shipped

Rockers are media blasted and returned looking good as new. We have sets available for purchase with a core exchange or outright. Core charge $60. We also have the kit available for $145. We have a one day turn around on those sending them in and 2nd day delivery is free. If you want to mark them and not have them blasted we can accommodate that as well.

In stock ready to ship, free 2 day delivery.

Please excuse the question but, what exactly is the upgrade mentioned?

Hi Spin, I don't have LS3 offsets in stock but it only takes me a day to rebuild them and get them shipped. They will go out next day they come in and I ship 2nd day priority for free

Spin I can look for a used set for core exchange if you want me to.

SGTROD.. the upgrade is to rebuild the stock rockers. The needle bearings fall out of them for some people after at higher rpms.. not sure but 6200 rpms seems to stick in my head?

Anyway the needle bearings can fall out. Most of the time they end up in the bottom of the oil pan but it is conceivable they could cause a lot more damage.

The rebuild kit fixes the issue. I also media blast the rocker so its looking good as new when you get them back.

How important is it to number them? On a bolt-on car wouldn't they most likely all wear the same?

Thanks
John

Thats really debatable.

The rocker itself has about 1/16" of play in them from the factory so the "wear" pattern is kind of a moot point. When you bolt them back in you also have "play" where you can turn them just a bit.

Then when you look at what we do to them... replacing the trunnions. The only thing left on the rocker that is original is the body and the body does not wear. The tip where the valve rides gets a shine to it but not a real wear pattern in it.

When I look at the tips of some of these rockers the "wear" pattern is never in the same spot and is definitely wider than the valve tip it comes in contact with.

I would how ever make sure the pedestals go in the same spots but the wear pattern concerns were more for the flat tappet stuff and trouble shooting.

We can do it both ways for a person and leave out the media blasting if they desire. Not an issue. I've not seen any issues arise though from these rockers and a rebuild and putting them in different locations.

Harlan Sharp was doing this for a long time and never had issue
with wear patterns either and I have not seen any threads where it was ever an issue.

Default Spin how bad is the problem?

How bad is the problem on the offset LS3 rocker arms? The cost sounds very reasonable for extra insurance if there is a real problem with reliabilaty.

Any special tools required to DIY the upgrade with the kit?

Its not a difficult and no special tools are required but you can nick a bearing if your not careful pressing them together. I have done I don't know how many and I hadn't had an issue til about 3 weeks the rocker slip in the jig a little while I was pressing it together, nicked the bearing so I had Comp send me some individual bearings to replace it and now I keep a bearing or two on hand just in case.
