I bought a new Optima Yellow Top battery for my car about 6 or 7 months ago.... Its been fine, My OEM battery was also working perfect, but I needed the Yellow Top for racing (to run the fan & electric water pump) between rounds) I drag race the car.
My question is with the OEM battery... it was perfect when I removed it & I have it in my heated garage... so yesterday I thought it would be a good idea to put my battery tender on it just to top it off etc...
The Battery Tender I have starts with a flashing yellow light (while testing) then goes to a solid yellow while charging, and usually turns to green when the battery is fully charged.
Well like I said above the OEM battery has been sitting app 6 or 7 months & I put the tender on it (its a 2 amp charge) Its been on yellow now for app 12-14 hrs.. ?????
Does this sound normal.. I know when I race my car and run the fan and electric Water Pump a lot the battery still will get to full charge in 3 hrs at most (but I drive home so I'm charging the Yellow Top on the way home also....
Any thoughts on my OEM..should I take it and have it checked or could it have gone so low (charge) that the battery tender needs more than 14 hr to get it to full charge ??
