hi everyone,
I have a problem in my 2006 covette.I was driving back home(thur) a few days back and got a msg check coolant level .To avoid any problems I put in preston dex cool along with distilled water in the surge tank till the full cold level. I drove for like another 35 miles on fri (the coolant level was full in the morning) and noticed again the coolant was low when checked at night .I did not drive the car after seeing the low coolant. This morning (mon) I again added more coolant with water and then when I tried to start the car it is not powering up.Like the engine tries to power and then goes dead similar to if a battery is low..Any ideas on why this might be happening. Is this cause for a major problem?
I hate to say this but that coolant is going somewhere. If it isn't on the floor it is in the engine. You could have liquid lock. Pull the spark plugs and check for coolant.
thanks guys.I noticed yesterday that there was liquid under the passenger side..I guess that is probably the coolant. Will keep you guys updated on what is causing this..It looks like it could be the gasket or the water pump.
You never know about water pumps, but I too would expect 40K miles to be premature. I'll keep an eye on my 2006 with 30K on it. Good luck on your repair.
The guy who fixed it told me he has already seen 12 c6's with this problem and this happens all the time. This is an issue only with c6.I hope sub you wont have any problems in your 2006 ..
Sure Gering.I hope you wont have any problems either. This seems to be more of an issue with 2006 ones..I ended up getting a tune up done as well since the spark plugs had to be replaced..The pumps itself is not expensive.Luckily for me the hoses and the gasket were just fine..So if you see coolant leak it probably is the pump as the gaskets dont break that easy and it has to be hit really hard..

Thanks for the info. I hope you are back on the road soon.
Sorry for the late response as I didnt log in for a while..
vette is back in action....No problems at all.....
Gering-Have you purchased any extended warranty on your 07 c6 since it already has hit 92k miles?I plan to keep mine for a long time as well!
