If you have the Bose system you would also have the Nav. The front speaker covers will also have a small Bose emblem on them. If you don't have it be thankful because its a terrible system. The sound is horrible. Just my opinion...

You can have Bose without Nav. A 3Lt car has the Bose system, Nav is a separate option all together.
You do not need NAV to have BOSE. I believe all 3LT and 4LT cars have Bose. If you have HUD you have a Bose system. The base system is not much different sounding than the Bose. In my opinion neither system sounds great but then again very few factory systems that I have heard sound good. To each his/her own. I also thought you had to have a Bose system to get NAV. I think the wiring harness is different in the non Bose systems.
Yes, I believe from the below information it will not be as straight forward as it would if you already had tha Bose system. It can be done but you would have to decide whether it is worth it or not.
Personally, I have used the factory NAV and I think it leaves a lot to be desired. For 730.00 I picked up a brand new Kenwood 6140 a while ago and replaced my factory non Bose system. The Kenwood functionalty blows the factory NAV away as does it's sound quality. You lose HUD integration but it sounds like you don't have HUD anyway.
Check the link in the below FAQ that discusses adding NAV.
I had a set of bookshelf speakers from them in the 80's, still have them actually and they sounded pretty darn good for a long time. Rated at 60watts and I put 100 into them all the time but I've never had a car audio system from them and the 80-'s was a long time ago :o
Bose is the most over rated manufacturer in audio equipment. Their only decent product is the Wave Radio.
Before purchasing my GS, I listened to both the Bose and Base Stereo. The Bose did nothing for me, thus I opted for the Base
The factory upgraded Bose system in my wife's Ford Edge is probably the best sounding factory stereo I have heard. The Bose system in my 08 coupe is the worst. It may be that the smaller amount of cubic feet of space in the vette kills the acoustics. Or maybe the Bose is just crappy.
I agree, my 04 Vette had Bose and sounded like crap, my 09 has the base and sounds much better and this is at any volume. Now for the home, I have some cube speakers I bought over 10 yrs ago and still sound great and along with the Bose 601 floor speakers you can rattle some windows.
i went from a 1LT 08 (stock) to a 2LZ 07 (bose) and couldnt tell much difference. I always disconnect the center channel for better stereo seperation. the rear speakers are junk, used as rear fill in mono. The nav head unit IMO is the worst sounding of all three.
Have Bose in my 2005 Escalade with 7 speakers and sub, love it. Drove couple 09 Vetts with Bose and couple without and I bouoght one without. Just sounds like it has more volume and better sound. Worked in Audio off and on for 30 years and I think Bose is the most over priced and rated in the world! What they charge for a plastic kitched radio is just plain stupid!!!
