Default Axle-back or CAI?

I have decided to go with the guy's over at LG with longtube's,catted-x and their dyno tune. My question is should I leave my stock mufflers on and get a CAI or get a set of aftermarket mufflers and get the CAI later? My budget is going to be right about even either way. Also my other concern's were the sound of the exhaust and which combo would give me the best overall gains.

I have an 08 m6 base model C6, I do not have the NPP's.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you're looking for extra horsepower, forget the axle-back. You might see a couple of HP with an axle-back. Get a good CAI, you'll see a lot more power for less money.

That's what I was thinking. Do you think the exhaust will sound good, with the stock mufflers?

It'll be fine. You can add some Z06 mufflers later and an NPP so you can go from normal to loud when you want. I have LGs, Z06 mufflers and NPP in a box. I also have the Callaway intake. Great stuff.

go with the CAI, since its going on the dyno for tuning. Then get the catback later, you dont need any extra tuning by just replacing the mufflers.

Is the Halltech Killer Bee intake popular with the LS3's. I know the Vararam is the only true cold air but do most people just use the Killer Bee. Is it 15rwhp with a tune or without? I'm trying to decide on which intake and don't want to have to modify any pieces (shroud) or whatever.

It's always amazed me how any CAI can possibly show any HP increase on a dyno.

I'd guess because most cars run pig rich from the factory. I saw 14whp on a stingy dyno before the tune. Just my $0.02. Even my tuner was shocked.

+1, you can add the mufflers anytime. Though you can add a cai without a tune, if you are going to be getting the tune get the cai too when you get the headers.

I plan on getting the B&B bullets...Where can I get the regular ones for the cheapest? Also, I plan on getting long tubes and a xpipe in the future. Will this axle back be the right size to mate up with the midpipe? They make the mid-pipes 3" shrink down to a 2.5" near the end right?

Purpose of exhaust is sound. There is no significant power gain but you'll get drone. For power get the Honker or Vararam and keep stock exhaust and see how you like it.
