I bought a set of Z06 mufflers, cut them open and did the "muffler mod". I took the advice of some of the other members and used the 2 ea 2 3/4" exhaust band clamps per muffler with some thin sheet metal under. I took them to a local muffler shop had them welded and installed and all I can say is wow! I had just a standard exhaust on my 08 m6 and as my wife said it went from a kitten to a lion. It sounds so good, I am very happy to say the least! Just thought I would share!
Thanks, you will love it, make sure you do the mod!!!
The mod is done, I am just waiting for the rest of my exhaust to come back from Sandersons. (Ceramic coating)
I used a piece of 3" exhaust pipe which I cut in half and removed the excess material and reshaped them till they fit perfect using band clamps to secure them. I also cut open both sides of my mufflers so my welder could get as much of the seams as possible. (So they don't sound tinny) I then shaped pieces of .048" SS plate to make the patch panels and had my welder finish them up. They look good! Hopefully they sound good.
