Is it possible to put Z51 rotors onto a non-Z51 car without having to mess with brake caliper mounts? It seems to me that Z51 rotors are bigger, is that the case?

You have to change the mounts. You won't gain any performance advantage. You will gain weight. If you're after the "bling" looks they will accomplish that.

As another option, you may wish to consider Baer Eradispeed+two (2 piece) rotors which
are designed to replace stock rotors. They reduce unsprung weight and look great!

I don't see a weight listed on their website. Did you weigh them before installation?

YES....they ARE bigger. You WILL have to change c/mounts as well.

I did this a couple years ago and don't remember how much weight I saved but yes, we did weigh them and they were significantly lighter than the OEM as I recall.
It all depends on what you are looking for. The Z51 rotors do perform better than the stock ones. They have more mass and can absorb more heat so will stop better over a longer period of time. As for the Eradispeeds they may weigh less and get you some secret horsepower but brake performance results with those rotors are very poor. They are good for bling and little else. Plenty of threads on the C5 and C6 forums about how disappointed people are with the Eradispeeds durability when subjected to track use.
Don't know for sure but from what I have seen at the track and from comments I have seen the Z51s probably last longer than the Eradispeeds.

San
So more mass and more leverage will not improve braking performance? Makes you wonder why Chevy even offered them in the Z51 performance package.
