Default Brake question

I have a Z51 2005. The brake is starting to squeak then driving around without pressing the brake down which is a sign that I should probably replace the brake. The question I have is does auto zone have the brake pads I need to replace them. Also do I need to replace the rotor? The car has 34,000 miles on it. I looked at the rotor And there is small grooves in them from use.

Autozone should have them - so does PartsTaxi.com and GMPartsHouse.com. If your rotors are scored, I would replace them.

The squeak is the small metal peices on the brake pads, warning you that you will soon need pads.

As long as you don't feel severe pulsing(warped rotors) your rotors should be OK, the new pads will work fine without replacing the rotors

Auto zone or any other parts store will have pads for that car it's up to you how much you want to pay for them, most pads the difference in price is the cost of the free replacement guarantee.

If you are going to keep the car forever buy the lifetime pads, that way the next set will be on them, but make sure you keep the paper work, they have a habit of loosing your information, it has happend to me a few times on customers cars

Your rotors sound fine. Don't turn them, it's a waste of time and money.

It depends on how bad the grooves are. If they are not bad you do not need to turn the rotors. If upon closer inspection you think they should be turned you would probably be better off getting new rotors. You can get get the NAPA Ultrapremium rotors for a reasonable price if you negotiate a discount with them. My local store gives me a local government discount (I don't work for the local government). The last time I purchased C5 rotors they ran me about $45 each.

EDIT: That may not work. I just realized you said Z51. NAPA may not have those rotors. Your best bet may be to get them from GM Parts House, Parts Taxi or GM Parts Direct.
