Default Engine oil

Is it okay to use mobil 1 10w -30 motor oil instead of mobil 1 5w - 30 motor oil in my 2005 c6 corvette? The chevy dealer's maintenance department where i just had my oil and filter changed said that they only use mobil1 10w - 30 motor oil in all of the corvettes that they service. I did not think it was a problem, but i want to be sure.

They are both 30W when hot.

As long as the oil meets GM4718M spec you are fine

Especially if you are located in a Southern Climate like Houston. I ran 10W30 in my LS6 year-round.
