You didn't mention if you had the A6 or manual? If you have a manual the drone will not be as noticeable and you will have more choices. If you have an A6 then you may want to look into B&B Fusion dual-mode or factory NPP exhaust. Borla and Corsa both make excellent axle back exhaust systems that have little to no drone. I have Corsa Xtremes which is their most aggressive sounding system and there is barely any drone at highway speeds. Corsa also makes a touring and sport model, the sport model would work good for you from what you say you want. Also look into Borla, I have not had Borla exhaust so can't comment on their sound.

If you notice drone with your stock mufflers, going to ANY aftermarket exhaust will only make it worse. I'm guessing you're catless? NPP's or Z06 mufflers would get rid of the "wimpy" but I can't say either would be completely droneless in the closed mode. I have supercharger, LT's, cam, no cats, and NPP's. Never noticed any drone in the quiet mode, but I never noticed drone when I used to run stock mufflers. My hearing obviously isn't as sensitive as yours.

I have an---A6--NO CATS---NO DRONE with stock mufflers--sounds OK wide open throttle, but cruising, in traffic---wimpy sound.

My bad...I "misremembered" what I read in your post. Just be careful with aftermarket exhausts. They get louder as mods go up. What sounds great behind stock exhaust mani's and cats can get obnoxiously loud with LT's and no cats. The NPP's are a great mod and give you the choice of stock quiet or bullet loud....your choice as long as you have some type of controller. Z06 muffs are a good option too. Not quite as loud in the open position, but can be had for about half the $'s of the NPP's. I love my NPP's, but if I had to do it over, I'd stick the other $500 in my pocket and do the Z06's. I bought my NPP's over a year ago for $750 almost new. Now, they're about a grand in similar condition. Z06's are closer to $400 for a nice set.

That's the only fly in the ointment. You need to neck down the Z06 muffs to fit a C6 exhaust. The NPP's are a true bolt on. My son and I did my NPP's in our garage with the rear end on ramps.

I have decided that all exhausts have drone. Even stock. It just isn't loud enough to hear it for 99% of all people. Everyone's idea of drone is slightly different. But if you have good ears and listen closely, I think it can be detected in most all of them, including stock. It is just an individual tolerance level. You really need to take some rides in cars that have the muffs you are considering.

If you are concerned about drone, then NPP, Z06 bi-mode, or Corsa seem to get the most votes.

If money is a concern - you can't beat Z06 bi-mode.

Personally - I went with the Z06 bi-mode. For the savings that NPP would have cost (much less Corsa/Borla/etc) I got the M2W, did the Z06 muffler mod, and put on cut-outs.

Some say the z06 muff mod gets 40% more sound/loud than stock. It is a very easy mod to make too. I think the mod mellowed, deepened (more bass) and got "muddier". It sounds good - just wish it was not muddy.

With the cut-outs, it seems you can hear every staccato note of the engine. Burble is awesome.

So for total $ about the same as the cost of used NPP alone - I now have soft, medium, and LOUD!.

And oh, by the way - running with cutouts open has less drone than running the Z06 butterflies open......and at highway speeds, cutouts volume is about equal to z06 with muff mod. At idle, or accelerating, of course cutouts are much, much louder. You could possibly just go with cutouts on the orig exhaust if you just want volume and are happy with your current exhaust tips (or even just have new tips welded on)

THANKS GUYS !!! I had my brother do a fly by like the video---at 35 mph it was whisper quiet----foot in it--sounded close to the NPP--So my decision is---muffler $$ will be used to upgrade cyl heads, that will complete my mods--should result in RWHP of a stock--C6--ZO6---which has been my goal---with the new Mustangs---CTS-V series-2011 556 HP Camero---to keep your Vette in the hunt---some mods are desirable.--Mine is a 2007 coupe--A6---BASE MODEL----I had it on a scale---3140 lbs with 1/4 tank of fuel--pretty light !!! I see allot of wild RWHP figures on this sight---the only thing that counts is the BEFORE & AFTER numbers on the same dyno. For your info, I street raced a 2010 Shelby GT 500--at about 120 mph I was approx. 4 lenghts ahead--He had different mufflers, but beleive it was stock--we did couple of 75 mph & up runs, Vette had a nice steady pull away.--I have 405 RWHP--THANKS AGAIN for everyones input.-----------John
