Default Check Engine Light

My car will set a check engine light maybe once a year due to the fuel fill cap loosening. The last two times this has happened including last week, I have retightened and ignored the light. It takes about a dozen engine starts spread over a week of driving for the light to turn off. The light finally turned off this morning when I cranked up to go to work. In the past the CEL turns on a day after I fill-up which is a strong hint that is a problem. However last week, the tank was nearly empty and due a fill-up when the light came on. A little out of the ordinary with my past experiences. The cap did seem rather loose when I took it off for the fill-up.

Justing posting for those experiencing this for the first time due to the fuel fill cap. The fuel fill cap problem has been well documented and discussed on the forum throughout most of the C6 Gen. Mine doesn't misbehave often enough to motivate me toward getting the dealer to replace.

My first year of owning the car I had the cap coming loose all the time. It has to be put on just right to stay tight. Now I guess I have the touch since it hasn't happened in a long time.
