Hello!
I have decided to sell my 2000 WS.6 with anticipation to purchase a C6 in the next year. One thing I learned quick with the ws.6 was that the top-of-the-line option package could easily be rivaled by mods. I always cursed myself for not just buying a TransAm and modding it.
So for my C6 I'm wondering if it's realistic to think that i could take a base vette and mod it to handle like or better than a Z06? That being said, what are the suspension areas that need to be modded?

I hear what you're saying but the main thing here is that the differences between a base Trans Am and a Trans Am WS6 are FAR fewer/smaller than the differences between a base C6 and a C6 Z06.
In thos particular case it might just be worth it to go for the more 'top-of-the-line' model, especially with the way used prices are right now.
But that being said, yes you can still make a base C6 handle better than a stock C6 Z06 with a few choice suspension modifications (and tires).
Can't say you wouldn't end up spending the same either way whether you build up a base to handle/drive like a z06 vs just buying one outright (I'm thinking used prices).
