Default Seat Question

I have the cheap seats in my car and was planning on getting new covers. The bottoms are the same for both the cheap seats and the "sport" seats.

Does anyone know if you can use the "sport" seat back foam with the cheap seats foam.

Thanks!

Only difference is an air bag seat back will not fit a non air bag seat back.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking.

Do you want to install "sport" seat skins on your seats???

If so, I'm not sure, but I guess it could be done.

Like you say, I think the bottoms are essentially the same.

The "sport" seats have 2 pieces for the top: the headrest/bolster; and the center pad for the backrest.

Below are a couple pics of the higher level seats (I guess they're the "sport" seats).

The picture below shows the center pad:

The next picture shows the headrest/bolster skin and the backrest:

I'm not sure whether your backrest is set up to accept the "sport" seat stuff. The backrest has a couple of clips bolted or riveted secured to it to attach the center pad. It also has some holes along the sides of the center section for plastic push-pins that attach the side bolster to it - and there's a metal rod that goes down each bolster that has loops for the push-pins to go through.

So.....I don't think it's as simple as taking your skins off and pulling the "sport" seat skins on.

However.....if you want to try I might have some hardware and parts for you. I've got some Ebony top skins (at least the headrest/bolster part - I'll have to dig into the box and see if I have any center pad parts). I've also got some backrests from "sport" seats that might have some parts. Let me know if you want more info.

Thanks for the feedback and information.

I want to buy the foam for the sport seats, but use my base seat frame and cover them with sport seat covers. That way I get the bigger bolsters.

I only have 10K on the car, and one of the vinyl bolsters is worn out, so I was going to buy full leather covers and update the bolsters at the same time.

It will depend on if the base seat back has the clips that the middle section of the sport seats connect to. I don't recall if my base seats did when I recovered mine. I just had covers made to fit the base seats. The base seat covers have lots of velcro holding them to the foam. I had full leather covers made for mine for under a grand. PM me if you want the company name as they are not a CF sponsor.
