Default Let's talk suspension setup...

I'm looking for feedback in regards to setting up the suspension for street/strip. What I have is great for handling but too rigid for the strip. I've broken all 4 mounts, 2 rears, 2 300m hardened output shafts and both axles due to either wheel hop or dead hooking. I currently have Pfadt mounts all the way around, Koni adjustables and run 275/45 Dr's @ 15-18 psi.

My suspension is pretty stiff and I still get some wheel hop from time to time and if it dead hooks, I'ts sure thing I'm going to break something. I dont think my suspension and tire setup can absorb the initial shock load of a good launch.

My thoughts are that the pfadt mounts dont give enough, the Koni's dont allow enough squat and are still allowing wheel hop and the 275/45 Dr's on 17" rims dont allow for much sidewall wrinkle. It makes it hard to find the sweet spot between blowing the tires off from coming out to hard and dead hooking and either bogging or breaking.

Also, adding to the shock load problem is my McLeod dual disk clutch, it's absolutely the best dual disk I've ever seen for the street, it has an easier than stock pedal and nice smooth release at low rpm's, BUT, once you bring the rpm's up it's a totally different clutch, it locks down hard with very little ability to slip. I pulled a 1.47 60' with my stock clutch with 1.5's being the norm, but I haven't been able to do better than 1.6 60' with the dual disk.

What are your thoughts?

Seems you are pretty well versed.
Above suggestion is a winner...call a drag race expert.
.02 from me...You are adjusting your handling setup to a strip setup once you arrive, yes?
The two set ups are completely different.

I might have to do that, but I was hoping to get some of the drag Racing guru's to share thier thoughts.

Actually I haven't messed with the shock settings much yet, not sure exactly what I'm looking for at this point... I know there different but what am I shooting for, more squat and less rebound?

Keep the insight coming...

Thanks Dennis, I run the Nittto Invo's 345/30's on the street which work great but the track is a different story. I thought about going biased to help absorb the shock as well, I heard that runing bias ply in the back with radial skinnies up front can get pretty dicey though, thoughts? Do the 11.50x17 et biasply street's wrinkle pretty well and have a decent sidewall height?

I bought my Koni's second hand and so I didn't get a manual and there isn't a **** to turn or anything to adjust them even though I know they're adjustable, if anyone knows how to adjust them please chime in.

I ried pulling the front sway bar previously and it didn't seem to change anythng but I didn't have the rear adjusted to squat so maybe that will make the difference.

With the times you run, you must be doing something right, I appreciate your advise, maybe with these types of changes I can narrow the gap between us...
