Default Do you get any Clutch Chatter?

I have a 2008 Coupe, Z51, MN6, with about 11,500 miles.

When it was new, the clutch would chatter mildly in 1st gear at low RPMs, generally when I was driving leisurely.
As the dealer suggested it would, it went away at about 2,000 miles.

At about 10,000 miles, the chatter returned.
It only occurs occasionally, but, often enough to be annoying.

I recently had it at the dealer for an alignment & to look at the clutch.
The Vette tech, who is one of the best around, didn't experience any chattering when he drove it (of course!).
He told me that if I continue to have problems with it, he'll take it for a longer test drive & would replace it if chatters at all. He's as annoyed by chattering clutches as I am.

It's been about 1,500 miles since then, and the chattering continues.
It's not real bad, just enough to be an annoyance.
I plan to take it back to the dealer in the near future.

Does anyone else's clutch chatter at all?
From what I've read, this isn't unusual on Vettes.

No chatter at all in our '09 with 4,550 miles.
Have you used the "ranger method" to flush out your old clutch fluid?
I have done this several times on our car, it was filthy!

2008, 6 spd, Z51 coupe w/ 4,500 miles. No clutch issues. I do think the clutch feel sux and difficult to get engage smoothly (and I've been driving sticks for 44 years).

Yes, I change out the fluid using the "ranger method" a couple times a year.
It hasn't made any difference in anything.

I've been driving sticks for 31 years, and I don't share your opinion.
My Vette is the easiest car to shift quickly I've ever had.
I've never missed a shift with it & never had a problem with 2nd-3rd, as other seem to.

I have no problem with the shifter. I never miss shifts in the C6 either. I just do not like the ultra light clutch pedal and take up feel. Clutch does not engage as smoothly as most others I've driven.

My clutch chatters just a bit as well - is do you have a link for the "ranger method?" Would love to try it.

Thanks!

I couldn't find the link but just click on "search" for "the ranger method" it should come right up. What it boils down to is the clutch fluid turns dark and dirty. It Can and Does affect clutch operation if it isn't flushed out when needed. A new car's fluid turns dark because of the new seals and after i changed mine a couple of times it has stayed pretty clear. I went to wal-mart and picked up a syringe near the gas cans and also a can of prestone Dot-4 brake/clutch fluid and had new fluid in it in a matter of minutes. Easy!

A little...but I've got a twin disc carbon. The old stock clutch was smoother than a baby's azz.

I did it tonight - had to flush the cylinder a few times...what a mess. We'll see how it runs in the morning.

BTW, below is the link for those interested.

I've gone from 1st to 5th a few times by mistake at the 1/4 mile dragstrip.

I installed a short throw shifter and it never happened again.

Ok you old geezer! You got my mind twisted on that one!

1st to 5th?

I can see the possibility of accidentally...
2nd to 5th
1st to 4th
1st to 6th
3rd to 6th
3rd to 2nd

but...

In 1st and pulling back as hard and as fast as I can, my only options are 2nd, 4th, and 6th.

Whachudoin willis?
