Rewiring interior lights

Not sure what you're asking. Do you want the interior lights to stay off when you open the doors in the dark or do you want to turn the dash/guage lights all the way off?
The only 'interior' light that stays on in my '06 is the amber/orange ambiance light in the passenger's visor clip.

at night i now can have my headlights on, but the radio, hvac and all interior controls are off leaving the inside of the vehicle pitch black. the only item that is on are the needles (not the gauges behind them) and it looks really cool at night.
the big reason i want to do this is because i replaced all my interior control button lights with leds that no longer dim with the dimmer
just brain storming it may be easier to simple use the switch to provide 12v to the exterior lights

option 1
is simply to make a switch that provides 12v to the low beams/ position lights/ fog light relays. this way i have my exterior lights on with a pitch black interior. basically work around the sophisticated electronics
option 2 (not sure if it will work, ill experiment this winter)
unplug the sunload sensor (this will cause the interior lights to activate by default when the lights are activated) and run the circuit to a switch with a 1k ohm resistor, when the switch is pressed the circuit closes with 1k ohms resistance (what the sensor reads in daylight) and none of the interior lights should illuminate
option 3
at the very least id like to cut power to the gauge cluster backlighting except for the needles so that only the needles are illuminated
