There is a short hose located on the intake manifold right behind the TB, on the passenger side, it looks like it goes from the IM to the block. Not really sure. Anyway I found the end that attaches to the IM was off and it was causing problems. (Air leak right behind TB).
What the heck does it do?
If its the one that goes to the valley cover on the block its part of the smog stuff. It takes oil out of the engine and puts it back into the manifold to be burnt. It makes a mess inside your manifold too. There are several other hoses though. It would be a lot easier with a pic.

This is the PCV hose (positive crankcase ventilation) mandated by the EPA. It runs from the lifter valley area to the intake manifold.
Heavily polluted air in the crankcase is routed back into the intake manifold to be burned instead of vented to the atmosphere adding to air pollution.
Included in this air is small amount of engine oil which tends to accumulate in the intake manifold. Many guys will put a oil catch can in this system to separate the oil from the air before it goes into the intake manifold. Do a search on oil catch cans for how these work.
