Default Passenger Power seat

I have a 2006 Coupe with driver power seat. I would like to install power seat to the passenger side, I have the passenger side power seat Rail with all the components. Here my Questions.
1. Whats all involved in this change out ?
2. Does GM or After Market make a Kit for this upgrade ?
3. Are wiring harness's available and which ones do I need????
HELP... Thanks

You should probably read this post before you attempt it. Sounds like a giant PITA.

If you have a high trim level car with side airbags, etc., then I think you really want to do more than just add a power passenger seat. Do you have the adjustable lumbar/bolsters? If not, you really might like to add them too.

The high trim level base C6, the newer Z06, and the ZR1 all have an adjustable lumbar support and adjustable side bolsters for both driver and passenger. I had them in my 2005 Coupe, and I really missed them in my '06 Z06, but mostly my wife missed her 6-way power seat adjustment.

So....I did the "Kawal Mod" that was pioneered by forum member Ray Kawal in this thread:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...for-a-z06.html

In post# 1 in that thread above there's a link to Ray's own website with a lot of good info. Here's a copy of that link to Ray's site:

http://www.kawal.net/power seats.htm

I got a pair of seats out of a C6 and just took my Z06 skins off my seats, put them on the C6 seats, ran a power wire, bolted the seats into my Z06, and I had full featured seats with power adjustments on both sides, as well as the adjustable lumbar/bolster on both sides.

It was really very easy, and I was able to sell a lot of parts to recoup a good amount of my investment in the C6 seats.

In Ray's DIY info he shows how he moved the OnStar box from under the passenger seat. Do you have OnStar??? My 2006 doesn't have OnStar, so it wasn't even an issue, and running the power wire was very simple.

If you already have the power seat rails for the passenger side, it shouldn't be too difficult to swap it on to your current passenger seat. If you have OnStar you'll have to move the box as in Ray's instructions, and run a wire for power.

If you want the adjustable lumbar and bolsters but don't want to find a pair of C6 seats, you can buy the parts and install them. I talked just last weekend with an owner that did that. I can't remember how much he said all the parts cost, but he said it only took him about 45 minutes to install the bladders into his seat (he only did the driver's side).

BTW, if you do get any C6 seats, make sure you get 2006 or newer for the passenger side. The 2005 passenger seat is different and won't work in a 2006 or newer C6.

Also, somewhere along the line (maybe 2008?) Chebie moved the OnStar box from under the seat, so anybody with a newer car that wants to do the mod won't have the box under the passenger seat to deal with.

Good luck!!

Bob
