I was installing my new exhaust and found that my transmission fluid lines are touching the AR headers / x-pipe in 2 locations . Location one is where the passenger side header comes down in to the collector and the 2nd location is towards the rear where the H-Pipe connects to the exhaust / by the hangar springs.
I need to get these moved away (slight bend on fluid lines with small screw driver and little force) or use a header / heat shield wrap to protect the lines. I know I read this happening to others but wanted to get everyone's thoughts on what I should do.
I had to push it out of the way with a pry bar using a rag on the trans. lines. It is still not far enough for me but had no problems with it. Didn't have the problem in the rear with the trans. lines.
I have installed several AR headers without any problems, but I guess every car is different. I would gently bend them out of the way. Sometimes you can loosen one of the points that is securing them and bend them with a pry bar, then tighten the secure point back up.
I am afraid to pry on the lines because a technician told me they could break if you force them too much. Considering I have never done it before; how much is too much?
They are steel lines and it will take a lot to damage or break them. Use a wood 2X4 or a pry bar with a towel wrapped around it so you apply the pressure to them over a large surface area. You want to be careful not to dent or kink them and you will be fine.
