Default California Emissions

I usually don’t post in the C6 section, I’m a C1/C2 guy but have a question. A friend recently purchased a 2006 and he says it is a California car with their emission package. He wants to know if he can “remove the California emission package and get better mileage and performance?” I told him that the newer cars (even California cars) were just fine with the new controls and messing with the emissions would probably do more harm than good.

What do you guys say?

There is nothing to remove. All C6 Corvettes are the same, all are 50 State legal. The ONLY difference is the Emissions Certification Sticker applied at the factory. When new, only cars that have the California Certification Sticker can be registered in Calif. Ultimately the Northeast region adopted it's own, similar rules. Again, there is NO DIFFERENCE in the cars and equipment, just the stickers and paperwork. Here's a detailed explanation that may help:
