What it sounds like: Just a consistent whining squeak. Does not vary with RPM. Does not matter gear or neutral or clutch-in. However, when parked there is no more squeak. Been going on for a couple of weeks.
My process:
i thought it was just the belt. the belt looks fine, almost brand new. washed engine bay to get dirt off belt, didnt help.
So I thought it may be the a/c compressor since i heard the pulley bolt gets loose sometimes..it was ok. and turning the a/c off doesnt stop the sound.
Then i noticed it squeaks louder when i turn, i thought maybe it was low on power steering fluid...nope, full and clean.
so, finally i thought maybe since it was louder on a turn, i was low on oil. checked the dipstick and it looked fine. not super-full, but right in the middle of the "good" section. i had just maybe 8oz of 5w30 in the garage so i poured it in. it actually went away kinda, but i can still hear something.
Can anyone help me out? could it be the oil even though it was not really "low"? and if so, what was squeaking? oil pump? pressure was fine
