Default LS2 top to LS3

Here is the deal. LS3 heads are better than LS2, so I was thinking of getting a FAST 102 for an LS3 and LS3 heads (OE or Aftermarket, not sure which yet). I have two questions. Will all the LS2 parts bolt up and what cam would you use to go with it.

Yes, that is why LS7 heads won't work.

a lot of people did the LS3 and intake swap, and a cam its cheaper and you can sell your heads, but i havnt seen any good 1/4 mile results, even though the LS3 dynos higher numbers, it seems to produce slower 1/4 mile times once modded

yes you can and yes they produce more power I know spin monster did the swap on his LS2 but I don't know if he did any 1/4 mile times. but he liked the results.

This is a pretty popular mod in the GTO crowd and can definitely be done. It is known as the L92/L76 combo. It consists of the stock LS3 intake manifold and heads, but an LS3 FAST 102 should work also.

From what I understand, and I'm sure Spin will pop in here, LS3 heads breath better than LS2 heads, but, you will lose some compression if you don't deck the new heads.

Tim, I swapped out the LS2 heads for CNC'd L92/LS3 heads in order to install the LS3 version of the E-Force on my car. There is a compression loss, but that was desireable for the blower install. The L92's flow way better than the LS2's and they're reasonably priced.

Your timing couldnt be better my friend. Call me if you still have the number and I can sell you my existing LS3 top end. (Im going with the AFR 230 for high boost and the deck surface is better for that). Anyway, my set up consists of L92's(LS3) with a L76 ported intake manifold with stainless one piece valves and comp 921 springs. These parts were 1750 new and I will get the heads cleaned up and a clean-up mill and sell the parts to you for 1150 shipped. They have about 8k miles on them. I even have ARP head bolts if you want them too.

The heads with a .040" gasket will have 10.7:1 compression just like a stock LS3. I can have them milled further if you want it up near 11.1:1. Just let me know what cam you want to use so I know what the limit will be for milling/clearance.

I will help with your tune for free and also port your TB for free too unless I already did that.

I will call you in the morning. Going to mom's house after Mass for my birthday. Can you recommend a cam to go with it?

My goal is around 500HP. Is that realistic without going crazy?

Thanks!

Ive got a set of Lingenfelter CNC LS3 heads in the classifieds, with the matching FAST 102mm. Id sell the the camshaft too if you want a matching setup (Comp LSR for LS3 heads 219/235 .607/.621 113LSA)
