I did not find it to be of much help since there are no reference points. Make a small hole and gradually cut it larger until the unit fits the way you want.

Looking at Vararam's instruction sheet on their website, the template is located(reference points) by the bumper beam and the two indentations in the shroud. But looking at their illustration #13, they really did a hack job on the shroud. No wonder people are having coolant overheating problems with the Vararam. Besides the scoop blocking a large part of the Grille's opening, huge openings in the shroud around the Vararam housing allow air to flow into the air box compartment, and then flow over the top of the radiator cover instead of being directed through the radiator.

So there have been cooling issues related to VR install on C6? I will have to research that.

i don't think anyone has had a cooling problem, you can check the above link, my car runs very cool, i did hear of one guy who cut the shroud very large, but also his front rubber air dam was removed, he closed the hole tighter with some hard plastic and put the air dam on and it was fixed

Vararam sells a GM shroud that has already been pre cut for the intake system. That's what I bought so that when I put it back stock in another 30 years I'll be able to. I thought it was worth the money. It sure reduced the time it took to install it.
