Just FYI, if your HVAC head unit is acting weird in any way, it is just telling you it is dying. It's very common. If your car is under warranty hopefully it will act up while the dealer is looking at it. If not under warranty then I suggest you just order a new one before yours quits completely, possibly at a very unpleasant time and possibly causing you to wait a week or more for a new one.
I finally got to my local GM dealer who after troubleshooting, tells me the Mode actuator valve is bad. The tech removed the HVAC control module, removed the glove box, jumped the unit out and watched the motor spin around, but the door won't move. The problem is, he says the dash has to come out to replace it, to the tune of $1500. I asked why the codes and the inability to control the A/C, and he stated the control unit cannot tell what the position is on the actuator, so it defaults to the mode it's in, and showed me about 5 codes it spit out. OUCH!
Well, I haven't got it fixed yet. I'm checking around to see what my other repair options are.
Just a thought, not trying to spend your money but......if you do go ahead with this and the dash is removed consider that there are 4 (I believe) of those actuators in there. It might be prudent to replace all 4 while you're in there to save having to do it again next year when another 6 year old unit fails. Again, just sayin'.
I just got the same bad news and a similar price quote on my 2005 C6 with only 12,500 miles on it.
Does anyone have any idea how many 'Vettes are experiencing this problem at such an early date?

No idea on numbers.....I doubt GM would make that known. It was/is a big issue with the C5's and appears to be carried over to C6.
A member posted a few months ago that the replacement part has a different color material so hoping it's better and will last. Here' that thead. Good luck:
