I've heard it was shorter....can't say, but the 08 is a lot easier to shift to me. It was like going from an old Muncie to a Hurst. Some do not notice much difference, but it was a big difference to me.

If it *is* shorter (and I doubt that it is) it won't be by much since they wouldn't want to increase the shifting effort for the majority of owners.

The 08 transmission is easy to shift. Takes nothing but 2 fingers. You can shift into any gear except reverse using two fingers or the heel of your hand. Very little arm movement just rock the hand back and forth. Most of that is due to the transmission changes. The shifter/shifter box has little to do with it.

idk if its just my car, or im just used to the amazing feel of the Honda civic si and s2000 shifter, but my vette feels very notchy and is a lot harder to shift than im used to.
btw im not being a biatch, im just saying there is a noticeable difference in effort between this shifter and the ones that im used to.

I'm not trying to sound rude, but what do you expect for a transmission that was built to hold 400+ ft lbs of torque?

The Civic/S2k tranny was designed to to hold a fraction of the torque... so everything is smaller making it less effort to shift. I've owned an AP2 S2k so I know how good the tranny feels in that car I don't mind making the trade off for notchiness when the Vette makes so much power/torque.

I've worked on both the '05 and '08 shifter boxes and they are the same.
