Default Installing Bilstein shocks

on all 4 corners. How hard is it? Can this be done in the driveway (no lift, no air tools, jack-stands baby!) or is it a real PITA?

The hard part is compressing the front shocks to get them in. Other than that it is easy.

Just did mine last night along with sways. Took me 4 hours. Rears are easy. Fronts a bit harder. I just have a basic jack and tools.

I did this several months ago, very easy!

I used a floor jack and jack stands, have air tools but they are not needed.

Easy. You can buy some of those bigger tie wraps to hold the shock compressed. Or, just muscle them in like I did.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT UNBOLT THE FRONT A-ARMS!!

Yes, you can do it. Did mine. Search for the 'zip tie method' It helps out alot! Good luck, have fun and let us know how you make out.

Hmmm, according to that article, Bilsteins don't make a really noticeable difference from the Z51 shocks (which I have)....... I was hoping for a somewhat inexpensive upgrade and a weekend project.

like everything else on here, many different opiions. Most I have read say that Bilsteins ride just like stock, but absorb bumps much better, and best of all, help with wheelhop. At $350 for all 4 or so, can't beat the price. If you go in the Z06 section DRM is running a special on the DRM Bilsteins.

Do I read this right, you do or don't have jack stands? If you need help I have everything needed and then some at my house in Hawthorn Woods if you need a hand. I'm working this weekend, but can plan for next. Heated and lighted 3 car garage, air, and 3 boxes full of tools.
I rather help someone, than read about somebody getting hurt due to lack of equipment.

I did the Bilstein HD on my 05 Z51 and there was a noticeable difference, both in control and bumps in the road LOL. It was an easy swap, took maybe 2 hours because it was dark and I was taking my time. I wish Houston roads did suck so bad

Right, but yours are 4 yrs old and approaching end of life so you will notice a difference with the new ones.

I have an '05 Z-51 that I put Bilstein Sports on at about 9000 miles. The difference is subtle, but it does improve both the ride quality and control of the vehicle over uneven pavement. I have no regrets and would make the change again. If the Bilsteins were more expensive it might be a more difficult choice, but for the money, I don't think you can really go wrong...
