I'm trying to isolate a noise coming from my steering wheel/column area, I've got the airbag cover removed, but I can't figure out how to remove the damn shroud that goes around the steering column (the black bezel the turn signal and wiper controls come through). I put a long screw driver into both holes and I still can't figure this out.
There are two small holes in the bottom cover that you use to unlock the airbag clips. These do not have screws in them. I suspect cencal is referring to other screw locations. The airbag clip holes are small.
consult your chevy dealer. There are no screws in the cover and I think the tilt lever pulls out. The covers snap together. I havent worked on a C6 I use to work at Saginaw Steering where we built colums. Don't screw up, it will cost you.
Good luck
You guys are correct, there is No screws underneath the cover... I had to double check Here's a write up I did when I swapped out my steering wheel. There is a 1" rubber strap the hold both pieces together... firmly pull towards the front of car and it should come out.
