diff to trans seal??

diff to trans seal??
Is a seal not needed between the trans and diff?? I noticed when I took mine apart there wasent one present. I would assume gear oil is circulated through there from the hole where you can see the pinion in the diff? There was no seal there, and mine was not leaking. Wanted to make sure before I put it all back together. thanks!

Is that part number for the manual trans? or is it one number for both manual and auto? Also I am talking about the seal around the mating surfaces of the cases of the diff and trans, its an o-ring not a seal?
