Default LS2/3 Fuel Rail Covers

If you have and LS2 with LS3 heads and FAST intake, will the LS2 fuel rail covers still fit or do I need LS3 fuel rail covers.

Thanks!

I have an LS3 with the FAST, and the stock LS3 covers do not fit properly. Because the fuel rail is raised with spacers to clear the intake, the covers sit too high on the inboard side.

I started modifying my stock LS3 covers to work with the FAST, but I lost interest before I finished. To make them look right, you will need to remove and shorten the plastic mounting tabs on the cover then opoxy them back on. Might take some trial and error. I just came across my fuel rail covers last night while looking for something in the garage. Got me thinking about finishing the project.

Thanks! That's was I was afraid of.

I may just get the GM cast valve covers with the Chevy script on them, but then I need to find something to do with the coils.

Yeah, I was thinking about going with the Katech valve covers and coil brackets. Much better looking than the GM setup, in my opinon. These have been painted and the insert polished, but you get the idea.

Are those Katech coil brackets?

Thanks!

I just made a set fit and I have entirely too much time into them... Had to cut off rail clips and move on back side then "massage" the areas around the crossover tube.

Set-up: LS7 with Fast 102, LS2 Rail (no spacers needed).

I did the same thing. LS2 with fast. I made them fit, also polished and painted (glossy smooth). But I swear - this mod took more time/effort than any other single thing I have done to the car. It was all trial and error shaping it up to get it to look right. Then all the filling, sanding, and painting. Not sure I would do it again....

The valve covers do fit if you have shorty injectors that come on the LS3. Those that say they dont fit are actually using their LS2 injectors and have raised their fuel rails with a spacer. This hieght is why they dont fit. I have LS3 heads and use shorty injectors and the fuel rail covers do fit as stock. For use with the FAST intakes you do need to reshape where the covers touch the FAT's top cover with a dremel or it rubs....but it does fit.

I have a factory LS3 car with the original injectors. FAST requires a spacer to use the stock LS3 injectors on the 102 for LS3 heads. Without the spacers, my fuel rail cross-over would not clear the manifold. Here is the first paragraph from the FAST 102 LS3 install manual:

FAST™ LSXR™ 102mm Intake Manifold
Part #146102 LS3
BEFORE YOU START: OEM LS3 engines, and any application using OEM LS3 fuel
rails and LS3 injectors, REQUIRE injector spacer kit #146025-KIT!!!

But yeah, the fuel rail covers did clip back on after I changed the manifold. They just looked like crap. I think whether you use short or long injectors, the rails are still going to be taller than on the stock LS3 manifold. This makes them not tuck in properly where they meet the runners.

Besides holding heat, what is the purpose of the covers?

Depending on your taste, they look good.

Fast intake and covers actually line up quite well as far as shape. Like I said, I only had to re-shape around the crossover pipe as it is in a slightly different spot (rearward). The major pain is cutting off the "c" clips on the back side, locating the proper position and glueing them back on.

I scored them with a razor blade, wiggled until they came off. Sand area on back side around where you would like to re-mount the clips. Put them on the fuel rail, tape all around as not to make a mess then run a bead of a 3M product we use #8115. Will stick for sure (2 part epoxy). Let harden, remove covers and use more 8115 to ensure they do not come off. I kept the stock location for the pins from the valve covers, seemed to work great.

Wish they would host pics... I also filled the "corvette" smoothed and painted them. Fast intake is Velocity Yellow, covers are Blade Silver with black and yellow "Lingenfelter" where the Corvette was. I got about 40hrs in them. I could have saved some time filling the Corvette with a different product but I used the same 8115 stuff and it was almost impossible to sand.

Always liked the Katech relocation and covers but I am really digging the FAST intake with all the busy logos shaved off. I have a FAST intake for my car already but it wont go on for a while was thinking about doing the same and now that I see it... gotta be done
