Noisy brakes
I have a 2007 convertible that I bought last year, GM certified. I have been having problems with the brake squeal since I bought the car. Bedding them helps, but only for a couple of weeks. The pads are still like new. I was considering changing my front brake pads to ceramic to maybe alleviate the aweful sound I get while stopping. I was told my brakes are great, just noisy, and that there is a trade off between performance and noise. this makes no sense to me. There must be an aftermarket brake pad solution for me out there!!! Does anyone have any advice???
you will hear that ceramics are fine. you'll also hear from vendors on here about other choices. the choice I went with are porterfield R4S. they work very well. for last 23K miles.
do a little searching (advanced search, terms like brakes, ceramic, etc., highlight gen and tech) on CF Gen and Tech. you'll see what I mean.

If you use the brakes harder the squeal will reduce. No need to baby the brakes.

There's no guarantee that the ceramics won't squeal. Try sanding the rotors. Apply some anti squeal compound and bed again. It may be the pads themselves. If it is then you may want to go back to OEM.
