Default Dead Battery

Just bought an 07 coupe this summer and it sat in the garage for about 2 1/2 weeks and the battery went dead. Is this normal and if so should I use a trickle charger and can anyone recommend one?

Thanks

Default Corvettes are hard on batteries

A Battery Tender helps.... can attach it right to the battery or hook it up through the cigarette lighter / accessory outlet

Default It's a 2007

So the battery is at least three years old.... it probably sat before you bought it.....

can be. you take it out, do a lot of local trips, stop, get out. bring it home. let it sit for 2.5 weeks. no battery maintainer. yup, can happen. esp. on an older batt.

It IS normal. It may not have been designed that way intentionally, but it happens. Harbor Freight has some battery tenders for about $10 and sometimes cheaper on sale. If you're not going to drive it every week, you'd better get one somewhere. Ask the Chevy dealer how many go dead sitting in the show room or on the lot.

I used to work for a battery company and automotive lead acid batteries capacity is reduced each time they are fully discharged. They are made cheaply to meet the market prices. Don't expect them to last more than 3-4 years. They show long warranty but they are prorated after xx number of months and expect a certain percentage of people won't make a claim when it does goes bad.

My recommendation is just replace it and move on.

Default batteries

I have a 2007 coupe that's never had a dead battery. Yet my 2010 ZR1 had that problem twice. So much for older batteries!
