Default Verifying 4.10 gears

I bought a C6 M6 that is supposed to have 4.10 gears. Is there any way to verify that there really are 4.10 gears in there without cracking the differential?

Absolutely, it's all math.

Here's a calculator:
http://xse.com/leres/ss/calculator.html

The gearings you pick will depend on the trans in your car (basically, t56 or tr6060 and z51 or not), but if you Google what you have you can find the ratios fairly easily. After you've got all that figured out, just pick an RPM to plug into the calculator, look at the speed and gear and see if your car matches said speed on the road.

Enjoy.

approximately at 70mph your tach will read:
1950rpm's w/ 3.42
1600rpm's w/ 4.10

Those numbers don't look right.

Wouldn't the rpm's be higher with the 4.10 gear?

I see 1500 rpm at 70mph with stock 3:42 and I now see 1900rpm at 70 mph with 4:10.

O8 LS3 MN6.
