Flow numbers don't necessarily = power. Especially in a stock cubic inch engine with a smallish cam.

If you were to only do one, it should be milling (or thinner gaskets) rather than porting. The compression will help you all around but the porting will slightly hurt down low and slightly help up top. Doing both certainly won't hurt overall performance, but if you only do one it should be bumping the compression rather than porting IMO.

its been proven that most of the power comes from the mill. Its worth about 20-25 rwhp on average which just goes to show the ls3 head is to big for the motor. A good port is worth about 10 rwhp. So lets do the math. Average port job 1000 bucks. for about 35rwhp. Average mill at 100 bucks for 20-25rwhp. Which one is the better bargain? However you will kill your ptv with a mill and be stuck with smallish cams.

So is a good porting worth 10 or 35 HP?

I stand corrected. Original info was from Chev high performance mag and I should have investigated further as there are a lot of people typing that dont do day to day installs.

Thinking about doing a head swap for Mast Black Label Med. Bore. Anybody done this swap on LS3 or similar bore/ci engine? They are saying 50-75 HP with the swap with my current setup.

As long as its a 4" or bigger bore it would work.

When you say "it would work", do you mean the 50-75 HP, or just that it will go into the car?
