For the 2008 LS3, timing is actually added up to the 158*column. no timing impact for the 176* and 194* columns. At 212* column timing is pulled. It is my understanding that the computer interpolates between columns, so timing is pulled before 212*.
The bigger issue is underhood temps. Starting at IAT = 86*, timing is pulled. Keeping the intake air from heat soak is a bigger issue.

Timing is added at the colder temps because the combustion is so inefficient.
Jim at Halltech said timing isn't pulled until 212*F. I guess we need some experts to comment on whether there is interpolation happening.
Looking at those timing cells, even at 212*F it appears only -3* degrees of timing is being pulled, so even if there is interpolation, it isn't much.
I just shot off an email to my phoenix tuner asking about that.
