Default Is the door striker adjustable?

The U shaped door striker on the pass. side is hitting to low inside the latch. The door still works and is aligned fine but takes more than normal pull to open and close it. You can hear it bumping before it latches. I know I will need to pull the door panel to get to it but I just need to know if the striker is adjustable up and down (mainly up) before I tear into it? Thanks.

There is a small amount of adjustment but not easy. Check this thread. Different topic but starting at post 7 might be info you can use. Good luck.

Thanks Rick. I did see that thread when I searched and didn't see any info on the striker being adjustable up or down. Mine does not rattle like the subject of that thread but I did find out how to remove the door panel. I guess I'll just take it apart and see what happens.

If the door is aligned when it's closed and latched then the striker is in the correct position. Sounds like the door hinges may be worn or sprung.

Lol, I remember my first car doing that. My grandpa wedged a 2x4 on the door, slammed it a few times while I cringed in wide-eyed horror, and guess what? The door shut with narry a bobble. Those oldsters knew a thing or two and I miss him.

That being said, I would just take it to the dealer. It can't cost that much, and it's better than screwing it up yourself. Or you could just play with it. If you can't get it, take her in. I have become a fan of dealers lately.

I hope this isn't a silly question but are your windows indexed properly? Just asking.
