Hello - I am new to to this forum. I fact I don't own a vette yet. I was ready to buy a used low mileage 2006 vert until I read the 19 page thread about the issues with the "Service Active Handling" and now I am not sure I want to get a car that can cause a wreck like that one can. How wide spread was this problem and did the recall fix most of the problems? I know some people on this forum say that they still had trouble after the recall fix but was that just a few people or did the recall not help very much? I was debating whether to buy a 2004 C5 but for just a little more money I could get a 2006 C6 and that is what I had decided to do, at least until now. What would you do? Would you take a chance on a 06 or go for a 2007 or later? I read that the problem also existed or the later models, maybe not as many. Maybe I should forget a C6 and get a C5? I know that an extended warranty would cover most of the expense but that doesn't eliminate the safety issue. Maybe I should forget buying a vette for a while. What would you do? Any advice that you could give would be greatly appreciated. THANKS IN ADVANCE........... Larry
Of course we like and recommend our C6's. As stated above, I wouldn't worry about it, just be aware and knowledgeable. Remember, what you read here is a concentrated subset of experiences within the whole of the thousands of C6's sold and on the road. There hasn't been a wholesale problem of C6's crashing otherwise the Govt would be involved in a big way. If you get a C6 just enjoy it, spend some time here on a regular basis to keep up with what's going on and stay informed.
Also remember, the C5's had a whole bunch of issues of their own.
