Default Help W/Auto Transmission

Hi, I have a 2005 Coupe w/auto transmission with 26,000 miles on it. I use the vette ocassionally maybe 2 0r 3 times in a month. The last 2 times that I use it I have a problem to move the transmission level from Park to Reverse, since I notice that I apply the brake 3 or 4 times and pushing the release knobb on the level, or stop the engine and them start the engine again. Can anyone help me w/this matter. My near GM Service Center is about 2 1/2 hours from my home .Thanks for your help

Most likely it is the BTSI in the console under the shifter. I just had this problem and ended up removing the solenoid. GM in their infinite wisdom designed it so that when the solenoid goes bad you have to replace the entire shifter assembly. When you step on the brake pedal, do you hear a clicking sound?
