Factory stereo keeps cutting off
Just got an '05 with 6 disc / XM. About half the time the stereo either won't come on when I start the car or comes on but cuts off while driving. When I'm seeing the issue, the red LED is blinking and nothing on the display as if the car is locked. I can push the power / volume button and the backlight comes on and the clock is displayed but nothing else. No codes about being locked. I pulled the fuse for a minute and replaced it but still see the issue.
While searching, I found several others that had the issue but it either resolved itself or the dealer replaced the head unit under warranty. Never found anybody that actually fixed the problem. There are no other electrical symptoms so I don't think it's DBS. Any suggestions?

try using your other fob. had this same thing happen on a friend's 05 coupe. he took it to the dealer and they could not fix it. i found out about it from another thread on here. the fob's are part of the anti-theft system. the stereo system is part of that also. sometimes the fob gets confused, and this happens. he has not had a problem since he started using his number 2 fob. he is going to reprogram the number 1. hope this helps.

crankyDoes the stereo have it's own fob sensor or does it use the main sensor used by the car for unlocking doors and starting?
