Hey guys! I've got a 2006 Convertible with 98k miles on it. While driving the other evening, both headlights went out after about 20 min of driving. All the other lights were still on and I made it home with the driving lights turned on. Once I stopped, I shut it off, waited a few minutes and tried again....nothing. After about half an hour, they worked again, but did the same thing after a short amount of time.
Being that it seems to be a heat/electrical related issue, I'm wondering if it's possibly a relay or ballast issue. If you have suggestions on this and where to get the appropriate parts online, your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
The ballast is certainly suspect but both at the same time seems too coincidental. Can't help beyond that. If you decide to get new parts just use partstaxi.com or gmpartshouse.com.
Here's a thread that will give some idea what you are getting into. Good luck and please let us know what happens.
Thank you for the links. I hear you regarding both just going on & off at the same time, which makes me think it may be a relay or switch. It is kept on the automatic setting, but it didn't make a difference when I switched them on & off manually.
I hope there might be some other posts with ideas. Will definitely keep everyone posted. Thanks again!
Well, the guys at the Chevy plant think it's the switch. Now that the headlights won't go on at all, I'm thinking it is the culprit. All running lights, driving lights and high beams work, just no headlights and they both went off at the same time & no longer work.
Does anyone have a link for a DIY walkthru on how to replace the switch. A local shop said it's about a 1.5 hour job, so it doesn't sound like it's too bad. I'm sure I can do it, but didn't know if the wheel has to be removed or not. Anyone have any insight?
