Default electric fan question

My 2008 is tuned to have the fan come on sooner which is ok but can be a problem at the driveup window. Looking in the helms manual it looks like putting a switch in the small red wire leading to the controller next to the fan will keep the fan off. Anyone done anything like this or can offer a peer check? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

I would lower the percentages on the first 2 fan temperature increments, you wont hear it then, but it will still be cooling. Safer than disabling the fan totally, especially when the ac in on. Try 25% for 1st inc., 50% for 2nd inc. , then increase progressively, topping out at 90% for highest temp. inc.

Agreed, if I had the software i could do that, I'm looking at that 5 minutes in the driveup to be able to quiet it down, otherwise it can be as loud as it wants. Never heard it at all prior to the tune. Its a small thing but I don't want to cut wires if the idea is wrong. Of course I can watch the temp to make sure nothing gets too warm during the time in line.
