Originally I was going to go widebooty next year, but I have been second guessing it. I want to go with a 18" wheel in the rear, most likely CCW's. My question is, with a Nitto NT05R, do you think there will be a drastic difference, or enough of a difference to warrant the difference between a 305 and 345? My guess is yes, but I wanted to know if anyone went from a 305 to a 345 drag radial that could give me some input. The car has 609 rwhp / 579 rwtq.
My second question is regarding brakes, I have read up on the big brake kits, and how they are superior (Allegedly) to the Z06 brakes. If I am not going to a street racing track, and am only using the better brakes for stopping at the 1/4 mile, or from high MPHs, would going with lets say a Stop Tech kit vs Z06 brakes be that big of a difference? I can afford the fronts on a Stop Tech kit, but most likely not the rear, and I am worried about offsetting my brakes like that with up front being much bigger than the rear for balance. I also think it would look goofy only having the fronts on a big brake kit, whereas the Z06 kit I would buy it all. My theory would be that even though the Z06 brakes wouldn't be as good, I would still be getting stainless steel brake lines and going from my Z51 rotors (OE still) to slotted, which I hear is better than drilled (Mainly for aesthetics)
Thoughts?
Thanks, and I did do a search and have read up on this topic for both questions for awhile now, if I missed a thread that directly answered my questions I apologize.
The factory Z06 brakes have more than enough to stop the car from high speed and cause ABS to modulate the force to prevent lock-up. IMO, aftermarket brakes make sense if you plan to need that capability repeatedly in relatively short time spans such as when you are on a road race course. Quarter mile speeds should be ok for stock. if you plan to stop from 180+ mph on a regular basis such as standing mile events, that may be different.
I have a Z with stock calipers and rotors and Hawk HP+ pads and regularly stop from higher speeds than you will be going at the end of the quarter. When drag racing the time between high speed stops is great enough you don't get any real heat related issues.
There could be a possibility of quick passes like if we rented the track and did hot laps, or even on the highway getting into it a little bit. I just want to make sure I can stop if I need to from a higher MPH. Thanks for the input, anymore input out there? Or possibly some testing done between the two maybe 100-mph - 0 ft, or time wise to stop?

I added the Z06 brake package as part of my TT install. The only upgrading I will be doing is adding these: http://dougrippie.com/?p=414
and some top notch DOT 4 fluid along with Speed Bleeder for easier flushing.
EDIT: I should add that I don't engage in any kind of racing.
