Default How to disconnect airbags

What is the correct way to disconnect airbags in a c6z06.Want to do this permanently, track car only. Also there is a yellow ( yaw sensor?) in center console can it be removed after disconnect?

Thanks

Just pull the airbag fuse - that should completely disable them!!

You'll have several issues: 1) as you said, you'll have the light on the instrument cluster; 2) if you have a telescoping steering column you'll lose the ability to adjust it; 3) the passenger airbag on/off light probably won't correspond to whether someone is in the seat or not.

Pfadt used to sell a cable that both put out the light and retained the telescoping feature of the steering column, but I don't think it did anything to the passenger airbag light - but that's no big deal:

However, I can't find it available on their site. Give them a call to see if they still have it. There may be some other vendors that make/sell a similar harness.

I forgot to mention the yellow yaw sensor that you mentioned - I guess you're talking about the Active Handling yaw sensor. I think if you remove that you'll be disabling the AH, but that may not be a bad thing for a track car.

However, it could cause problems. Have you ever had a problem with a tire pressure sensor while on the track? I have, and it's a huge problem - it puts on individual brakes, and it pulls power on you when you try to accelerate out of a turn.

I suspect that without the yaw sensor input that the ECM and EBCM may cause real problems. There may be some way to completely disable the AH as well, but I think you'll need to contact somebody with a lot of C6 racing experience, such as Phoenix, Katech, or Pfadt.

BTW, go over to the Autox/Roadrace section of the forum for better advice!!

Never mind - I see you've already posted over there with no responses yet.

Yes, TPS is a pain, but I got a TPS reset tool and keep it in the car. I run with everything off, even in comp mode brakes are activating. Good way to use up your pads if you don`t boil the fluid first. I figured pulling the fuse would work, just didn`t know if it would cause other problems. Got to get more info on the yellow sensor it says caution may cause inflation if screwed with. Need to move it,stripping interior redoing center console, not sure if it has to be mounted flat or not.
